The Trust Factor: The Head of School and Board in Partnership

Workshop Description: Register Today

A strong relationship between the Head of School and the Board is essential to effective governance and the long-term success of a school. At the center of this relationship is trust—built through clarity of roles, open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the school’s mission.

This workshop explores the five key elements of trust—benevolence, openness, honesty, reliability, and competence—and how they shape the Head–Board partnership. Participants will consider how Heads cultivate trust through their leadership practices, as well as the actions and patterns that can unintentionally erode it over time.

Through reflection, discussion, and practical examples, the session will also address what happens when trust is strained or broken. Participants will explore strategies for rebuilding confidence, repairing relationships, and re-establishing healthy governance dynamics.

Target Audience: School Leaders
