Meeting Evolving Needs

AISA Events

of International Schools

AISA’s learning events are designed to meet the evolving needs of international schools in Africa. Each event offers relevant, research-informed, and context-responsive learning that supports school leaders, educators and co-professionals across all professional learning programs.  Our programming includes professional learning options for groups in schools including school nurses, librarians, HR managers, business and finance managers, executive assistants, operations and site staff and others.

Whether diving into leadership strategy, community wellbeing, curriculum design, or operational strategies, our events are designed to strengthen schools and build community, from large-scale conferences to focused virtual workshops, every event creates space for shared learning, meaningful connection, and lasting professional growth.

At AISA, we believe professional learning is most powerful when it is intentional, connected, and sustained over time. That’s why we’re introducing Purposeful Pathways: Deep-Dive Learning Months — a new way of organizing our virtual professional learning to bring greater focus, coherence, and impact for our members.

Each month, we dedicate our learning to a single, high-impact theme, offering 3–4 virtual workshops (Wednesdays 13:00 – 14:00 GMT) that explore the topic from multiple perspectives. From Wellbeing & Belonging in February to Teaching & Learning, Leadership & Governance, and Child Protection in the months that follow, Purposeful Pathways creates space for deeper learning, shared language, and practical application across roles and school contexts.

This approach reflects AISA’s ongoing commitment to providing relevant, high-quality professional development that truly supports our member schools.

Learning Event Platforms

AISA offers 4 different learning platforms.

Our flagship learning event, the AISA Annual Conference brings together international educators and leaders from across the continent and beyond.

Annual Conference

  • Format: Multi-day, in-person

  • Focus: Multi-strand, featuring international speakers, school visits, and collaborative sessions

  • Timing: Held each fall, hosted in rotating African cities. This is our largest gathering and a cornerstone of professional learning and community connection.

Flexible, virtual learning designed for busy educators and leaders.

Workshops provide timely, accessible opportunities for reflection, strategy, and discussion—no travel required. Many of which are free to AISA members.

Virtual Workshops

  • Format: Online, 55–90 minutes

  • Focus: Single-topic, high-impact learning across all strands

AISA Summits offer focused learning in smaller regional or thematic gatherings.

These events provide a chance to engage deeply with peers who share similar roles and contexts.

AISA Summits

  • Format: 1–2 days, in-person or virtual

  • Focus: Role-based or region-based sessions

Professional Learning Institutes/PLIs

PLIs are targeted, in-depth learning events focused on a specific role, topic, or school need.

PLIs offer deep dives into practice with practical tools, expert facilitation, and peer collaboration.

  • Format: 2 or more das, in-person

  • Focus: Single-topic immersion for groups like librarians, counselors, or instructional coaches
