Facilitators:

  • Chanel is the Wellbeing for All Program Coordinator at AISA, where she leads initiatives in child protection, well-being, and student support. With over 20 years of international experience, she has held senior roles in aid and development organizations across Cambodia, New Zealand, the Pacific, and Kenya. Chanel specializes in developing evidence-informed approaches that address the practical needs of educators and students. She is also a registered psychotherapist in private practice in Brisbane and holds master’s degrees in Counselling and International & Community Development.

  • Krista Haley, RN, BSN, is a caring, self-motivated visionary who is passionate about leading and providing culturally relevant care and wellbeing in the international school health context. Over the last 26 years of practice, she has been an instructor of CPR & First Aid, a clinical educator and director of Clinical Quality Assurance, as well as practicing medically in cardiac care, electrophysiology, step-down units, psychiatric, medical-surgical, oncology, and community health. Since moving to Ethiopia in 2015, Krista has focused on providing medical education and care in remote areas, as well as public speaking, and then joined the International Community School of Addis Ababa team as the Chief Medical Officer and Designated Safeguarding Lead in 2020.

  • Driekie is a dedicated secondary school counsellor and designated safeguarding lead at the American International School of Lusaka. With a strong passion for child safeguarding, she actively contributes to the well-being of students and the school community. Driekie co-facilitates the AISA Child Protection Practice Group and is also in involved with the Global School Collaborative. As an advocate for student voice, Driekie strives to enhance inclusivity and engagement within the school environment, ensuring every student feels heard and valued.

  • Maipelo is a dedicated and passionate educator with over fourteen years of experience in international education. She currently serves as the Whole School Vice Principal at the International Community School of Abidjan (ICSA) in Côte d’Ivoire, where she leads strategic initiatives in child protection, service learning, community engagement, belonging, and place-based education.

    Driven by a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and transformative education, Maipelo is passionate about creating collaborative and supportive environments where students, staff, and communities thrive together.
