Candice "Candi" Fowler is an education professional whose career spans over two decades. In her quest to help students learn and grow, she spent 10 years of her career as a classroom teacher for grades PK–3. She also served as a special education teacher and special education administrator for grades PK–6. Candi is currently working as a school principal for grades 4–6. As a principal, she supports the district’s elementary teachers in their work to build student proficiency through implementing Common Core State Standards and using data to drive instructional practices. During her administrative tenure, Candi has supported her teachers in the areas of elementary core content instruction; effective formative assessment practices; and meeting the needs of special education students, 504 students, and response-to-intervention (RTI) students. Her district-level projects included leading the development of an assessment plan that involved standards-based benchmark development as well as formative assessment curriculum ladders in the area of math.
Before joining NWEA in 2008, Candi was a MAP® user for more than five years. Her school is currently a MAP partner heading into its 13th year. She has many years of experience using MAP assessments to help make instructional decisions, set and monitor growth and proficiency goals, and evaluate programs. Candi not only works onsite but also reaches out virtually to connect with MAP partners all over the world through the MAP virtual webinar professional learning opportunities. She is passionate about connecting, building relationships, and fostering excellent lines of communication with our partners to help all educators ensure students learn and grow.
Candi attended the University of Texas at El Paso where she obtained a BS in education with a specialization in early childhood. She also attended Antioch New England Graduate School, where she obtained her MEd in administration and supervision. Candi is an education professional whose career spans over two decades.
