Who We Are
The Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) is a membership community committed to offering a variety of programmes and services that help our schools transform student learning.
Established in 1969, AISA offers a professional learning programme specifically designed to meet the unique needs of our diverse international-school body. In addition to our annual Leadership Conference in March and the annual Educators Conference in October, AISA also sponsors a wide variety of differentiated Professional Learning Institutes across the continent to foster greater professionalism and to improve teacher and leadership effectiveness.
AISA currently has a membership of 76 schools across 34 countries. Together, these schools serve approximately 27,000 students supported by over 3,000 teachers.
Our member schools vary greatly. Some are large, with over 2,000 students, while others have less than 100 students in the entire school. Schools may be non-profit or proprietary, religiously affiliated, or not. Curriculums also vary, with the American, British, IB or some combination of the three being offered by our member schools.
Whatever the school size or situation, AISA provides a forum to connect educators with each other and with world leaders in education, ensuring that our members are continually learning and growing thereby providing a school and classroom environment where their students can thrive.
AISA membership also includes some 80 Associate Members that are comprised of businesses, organisations and universities throughout the world whose primary mission is to serve the various needs of schools.
