Web Resources Supporting Crisis Response and Intervention

Students and teachers are affected by crises that occur in the school and the community at large. Tragic deaths, violent assaults, chemical accidents, and natural disasters among other events can have serious impact on student behavior and the learning process in schools. Because each crisis has it own unique characteristics as well as traits that are common with other crises, many different types of expertise are needed in handling tragic and traumatic events in schools. This need can be met by using crisis teams with a good comprehensive crises plan. (Schmidt, J., 1991). Web sites are included which provide effective approaches and strategies to handle a wide range of concerns and crises.
