Web Resources For Career Counseling

Web Resources Supporting Career Counseling

Career counseling or career development is a lifelong process in which individuals come to understand themselves and how they relate to the world of work. Through the career development process individuals gain self-knowledge, explore educational and occupational options, acquire work related skills, and develop decision-making and planning skills. This process should be an essential component of any comprehensive K-12 guidance and counseling program (Herr & Cramer, 1995). Experts have defined four broad areas involved in an individual's career development process:
  1. self-knowledge;
  2. educational and occupational exploration;
  3. career planning, and
  4. academic and vocational skill development.
