AISA Full School Members

Full School Membership is available to elementary and/or secondary schools within the geographical region served by AISA that demonstrate an international focus and philosophy as reflected by an appropriate aggregation of the following attributes:

  • An explicit reference to the promotion of internationalism in its mission
  • An international student body
  • An international teaching body
  • An international curriculum with a breadth of effective best practices 
  • Achievement of accreditation or authorization by a recognized agency outside the host country

Currently, AISA recognizes Accreditation/Authorization from the following agencies:

  • Advancing Excellence in Education Worldwide (AdvancED)
  • Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)
  • Council of British International Schools (COBIS)
  • Council of International Schools (CIS)
  • Authorization by International Baccalaureate (IBO)
  • Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA)
  • New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
  • Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)

AISA will consider other accreditation agencies on a case by case basis. Members and prospective members should consult the AISA Accreditation page for more details.

NB: The membership criteria for AISA Full and Affiliate Schools is currently under review by the AISA Board. Membership applications have been put on hold till October 2013 at which stage the AISA Board will publish the new criteria. Schools which have applied for Full or Affiliate Membership prior to the criteria change may also have to reapply. Please note that Associate Memberships will continue to be processed in the usual way. AISA would like to thank all current and potential members in advance for bearing with us during this process.
