Blended learning provides students with an opportunity to learn in a dynamic classroom full of choices of paths, pace and resources.  We’ll look at how you can enhance your existing practice or provide support for your school through elements of blended learning.  We will investigate digital tools and resources, the mindset of a blended learning teacher and sharing our best practices over the institute.

Institute Details

The aim of the institute is to share strategies to transform student learning through the skillful and appropriate use of technology in the classrooms to supplement other learning modalities.

Key learning outcomes:

  1. Develop an understanding of what blended learning is and how this approach can improve your students’ learning.

  2. Develop a blended learning approach to a unit or lesson

  3. Take away transferable skills that can be used to develop Blended Learning further upon return to school.

Facilitator

Ryan Harwood

Ryan HarwoodRyan has over thirteen years of classroom teaching experience in the middle grades.  He has always enjoyed finding ways to purposefully integrate technology into his teaching and learning while encouraging others to do the same.  He recently shared this passion at AEC2016 where he facilitated two technology integration Learning Institutes. Ryan’s experience in educational technology ranges from early days of troubleshooting VCRs and overhead projectors to working with teachers to utilise video conferencing in their classrooms. He is currently the Educational Technology Coach at Lincoln Community School in Accra, Ghana, founder of EdCamp Accra and the #AfricaEd and #ISTEIntSch Twitter chats.

Visa and Health

Travel visas can be obtained upon entry.

Host School

International School of Dakar (ISD) will host this institute.

ISD will provide a shuttle to pick up delegates from the Radisson Blu at 8:45 AM and deliver them back to the hotel at 4:15 PM.

After registering for the event, you will receive a booking link to enable you to make your reservation at the Radisson Blu, Dakar.

Airport Transfers

Contact the Radisson Blu via email or telephone and share your flight times in order to facilitate your airport transfers.

Please note that the new Blaise Diagne International Airport is now open and operational. Kindly check that your air ticket reflects that you will be flying in to DSS and not DKR. The drive from the airport will take about 45 mins to the hotel.
