Representing international schools on the continent
of Africa, AISA has a membership of schools which range in size
from 20 to 3600 students. Strongly influenced by their location and cosmopolitant student enrollment, some schools have an American
Based curriculum, others are British, and all have an international
focus. AISA’s goal is to serve the varying needs of nearly
29,000 students and over 1,500 administrators and teachers.
The Association of International Schools in Africa
(AISA) is an organization of 97 international schools in 33 countries
throughout sub-Saharan Africa. AISA serves as a support organization
for these schools. In addition, AISA has 50 Associate Members,
comprised of businesses, school-to-school partners, organizations,
universities, and individuals from throughout the world.
AISA hosts three conferences
each October for teachers and administrators in the organization.
Conferences for teachers are held in East Africa,
West Africa, and Southern Africa. In addition, an All-Africa Administrators’
conference is held each year on a rotating regional basis. Smaller
institutes are held in different regions of the continent during
spring.
Africa is a very large continent, and communication is often difficult.
The AISA office has created a number of e-mail address lists, and
sends out regular updates on professional growth opportunities,
school news, and other items of interest to members through its
quarterly newsletter.
